Dom Mintoff said yesterday it was time to forgive and forget and work together to bring the lost sheep back to the fold.
"We have to forget that they have been calling me names for the past four-and-a-half years and if we want the lost sheep to return to the fold we have to work together," he said.
Mr Mintoff stopped short of mentioning the Labour Party. However, in the past few days Labour leader Alfred Sant has been harping on the need to attract back party supporters who strayed.
Mr Mintoff was addressing a meeting in Fgura called by Front Maltin Inqumu as part of its campaign to urge the public not to vote for the Nationalist Party if they want to secure the island's neutrality.
Mr Mintoff questioned the March 8 referendum result, where a majority of 53.6 per cent voted in favour of membership.
"If he really believes he won the referendum, why is he holding an election so soon?" he asked without mentioning any names.
