Today’s letters by Times of Malta readers

Dangerous blind corner

George Bezzina of Marsascala writes:

This boundary wall poses a danger to motorists and pedestrians. This boundary wall poses a danger to motorists and pedestrians.

Two boundary walls have recently been built in Triq il-Gran Mastri and Triq is-Sallur, Marsascala. I suggest that Stop/Slow signs be erected at the very earliest and also painted on both sides of the roads.

A two-foot pavement is also suggested for pedestrians to walk safely without any dangers. Prevention is better than serious accidents.

A litany of scandals

Carmel Sciberras of Naxxar writes:

It is so, so sad that all the good done by the Labour government is being completely ruined by an ever-lengthening litany of scandals.

Sadder still is seeing Labour members rationalising and even defending these scandals.

Pity!

Traffic solidarity

Mark Galea of Sliema writes:

I refer to the news item ‘Under the Bonett: the inner workings of a new mass transport system’ (December, 19) and further elaborate on my previous letters about resolving the traffic issue in Malta.

Tough projects like the one at Msida Creek are very positive and a step forward. But there is more work that must be done.

It is of paramount importance that excess traffic in Malta is resolved as soon as possible. It is important that the government, opposition and all other parties come up with mutual solutions to solve the crisis.

Also, the ideas of the public should be more than welcome and taken on board. Just like there are meetings in the European Union about migration solidarity, I think it is high time there is some form of traffic solidarity.

Solidarity means unity in resolving an issue that is a becoming quite a hurdle and challenge for our country. Opening discussions with the public, so they are able to share their ideas, is important for our leaders.

Apart from all the plans that are taking place, which is indeed positive, one should give the public a chance.

Creating forums and discussions may be a way forward.
