Michael Bublé concert
James Dunn of Cospicua writes:
The man himself, Michael Bublé, when he finally appeared, making his first appearance in Malta, was magnificent, as was his full orchestra and singers.
And well done to local sisters The New Victorians for battling away in the unenvious position as ‘warm up’ act early on to a half full arena, which was completely disinterested in their singing and who only wanted to see Bublé.
My ticket said 7pm, so I turned up about 6pm… yes, silly me… hoping for a leisurely drink and then the concert. Oh no, it was not to be.
The doors didn’t open until 7. And Bublé didn’t appear until 9pm. What a shambles of organisation.
To cap it all, when the star finally appeared all of his ‘fans’ rushed to the front of the stage waving their phones and dancing and blocking the view of those of us who had paid up to €300 a ticket.
And where was security? Isn’t it funny about security? They are great about telling you what not to do but when they are needed, they are on their phones.
Selmun Hill
George Schembri of Xagħra writes:
One day, we will witness a tree falling onto cars at the top of the bend of Selmun Hill. There are three large trees leaning over the road on the left going down towards Mistra. These are massive trees bordering a thin rubble wall and with exposed roots. The authorities should carry out an inspection as soon as possible and take action before a fatal accident happens.
I use this stretch of road when going to Malta and on my return. I fear these trees can fall following strong winds or a good downpour since the soil is thin, being on a slope.

Anthony Saliba of St Paul’s Bay writes:
As I write this, the European nations are dominating this World Cup.
Facing the quarter-final stage there are no more than six European nations out of eight: Belgium, England, France, Norway, Spain and Switzerland. North African country Morocco and world champions 2024 Argentina form up the octet.
Notwithstanding the high ratio of European participants in the final stages for world cup honour, Argentina seem to be the favourites, considering their majestic win against Egypt.
Nonetheless, the great efforts we still have to see made by one and all makes this edition of the FIFA World Cup the most entertaining and exciting one ever to be played.
Enjoy!
