A Libyan air force Chinook twin rotor helicopter is to participate in the Malta Air Show this Saturday and Sunday.

This will be the first time that a Libyan Chinook will be in Malta and it is very rare for such helicopters to fly outside Libya.

The two Mirages which were impounded in Malta during the Libyan uprising will not make it for the show because of operational reasons.

Meanwhile, the wartime Spitfire fighter delighted many people this morning when he made some low level flypasts over Grand Harbour.

The Spitfire will tomorrow and on Sunday take part in the airshow's flying display and team up with the famous Red Arrows in a rare joint flypast.

The Arrows are due to fly in early this afternoon along with other entrants such as the RAF Typhoon.
