Lidl Malta, RIDT collaboration delivers €3,639 for vital skin cancer research
Reinforcing commitment to community and public health
Lidl Malta has announced a successful collaboration resulting in €3,639 to the Research Innovation and Development Trust (RIDT) of the University of Malta. The collaboration centred around a Cien Sun summer awareness campaign through which support was given to skin cancer research initiatives in Malta.
The partnership, which ran from June 16-29, saw Lidl Malta commit to donating €0.50 from the sale of every Cien Sun product with SPF 30, 50, and 50+. Beyond fundraising, the initiative aimed to heighten public awareness regarding responsible sun exposure and the critical importance of effective sun protection.
"We are absolutely delighted by the outstanding response from our customers to this campaign,” said Owen Micallef, Lidl Malta director. "Their support has enabled us to contribute a substantial €3,639 to RIDT for skin cancer research. This initiative perfectly aligns with our commitment to promoting health and well-being within the communities we serve. Protecting our skin from the sun is paramount, and we are proud that our Cien Sun range, coupled with this partnership, helps to underscore this vital message."
“Lidl Malta’s commitment towards supporting research through different campaigns is not only supporting the research projects themselves but is also helping us to create more awareness on the role of RIDT," said Wilfred Kenely, CEO of RIDT.
“These are the collaborations which contribute to sustainability in research. They raise awareness and raise funds. We would like to thank all the Lidl Malta customers who bought the Cien Sun range products. We would also like to thank the Lidl Malta management team for their constant support. We look forward to the next campaign.”
