The Life Cycle Challenge, which is taking a team of cyclists on a 1,700 kilometre journey from Paris to Madrid, is getting tougher.
Day one on Tuesday had been relatively easy and the 200 kilometres covered on Wednesday were on flat terrain. "But it will now get tougher and tougher," organiser Alan Curry said. However, they cyclists' morale is very high.
The team yesterday travelled 155 kilometres from Amboise to Poittiers deeper in a wine-growing region of France.
Unfortunately, two of the 32 cyclists doing the challenge dropped out yesterday due to injuries - one is suffering from tendonitis, the other from knee injuries. The two are currently travelling by car with the back-up team.
The day yesterday started with a drizzle but the weather settled as the day progressed. The team spent the night in the Bois St Pierre forest and it was the only night they were expected to be sleeping on a bed rather than on a sleeping mat.
The journey continues today when the team leaves Poittiers for St Andre de Cubzac, a trip of 239 kilometres.
