The Malta Environment and Planning Authority decided 606 applications in July and received 603 new ones while the net pending caseload at the end of the month was 4,069.

The authority processed 109 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2001, do not require a formal application.

During the same month, 105 stop and enforcement notices were issued, 67 in Malta and 38 in Gozo.

In July 2004, 25 enforcement cases were sanctioned by the issue of a sanctionable permit. Another 20 cases were resolved since the owners decided to remove illegal development following enforcement action. In the same month five cases were withdrawn by Mepa.

The authority carried out one direct action consisting of deposition of soil and removal of a fence at Wied Garnaw.
