Malta joined some 88 countries around the world on Saturday night in a yearly initiative called Earth Hour, aimed at raising awareness about energy conservation and the effects of global warming. Malta turned off the lights at Portes des Bombes in Floriana (picture), the Mdina bastions and St George's Square in Valletta, as well as the Ċittadella bastions and the Banca Giuratale in Victoria. The lights were turned off between 8.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. Photo: Pierre Sammut/DOI
