We refer to the editorial "Lija council champions good sense" (September 20) about the proposed home for the elderly.

It gives the impression that AX Holdings are proposing to uproot 40 olive trees.

AX Holdings reiterates that none of the trees in the area will be destroyed and only a few trees would have to be relocated. These would only be moved a short distance as they would be kept in the same area.

The leader said "The beauty of the valley should be enhanced not bitten into". The proposed project is planned on flat land and no valley will be touched.

In fact, the proposed building would be adjacent to existing building. Furthermore, as can be clearly seen from the picture of the location, the "beauty" being referred to is just an ugly third party wall forming an unsightly entrance to a beautiful village. The proposed project would only serve to enhance the approach to Lija.
