The cruise liner Wind Surf, equipped with five sailing masts, entered Grand Harbour yesterday in one of her stops in a Mediterranean cruise.
She left yesterday evening to anchor off Xlendi this morning so that the passengers can be taken on a tour of the Calypso island. She will leave Maltese waters this afternoon.
The Wind Surf belongs to Wingstar, an American cruise firm based in Seattle which operates cruises in conjunction with Carnival Cruises.
Registered in the Bahamas, the Wind Surf was built in 1989 and has an overall length of 187 metres. Her gross weight is 14,745 tonnes and she has a cruising speed of 15 knots. Currently she is carrying her full passenger capacity, with 312 clients.
The ship's sails can be operated manually or electronically from the bridge.
Windstar is represented in Malta by O.F. Gollcher.
The Wind Surf is expected to call at Malta on two other occasions in October.
