Lionel Richie to perform in Malta this summer
The iconic artist has sold over 90 million records
Global music legend Lionel Richie will perform live in Malta this summer.
The iconic singer, songwriter and producer, who conquered the charts across the world with hits including All Night Long, Dancing on the Ceiling and Hello will perform at the Ta’ Qali Concert Area on August 18.
The performance will mark the first performance in Malta for Richie, who has sold over 90 million records worldwide.
In a statement announcing the performance, organisers said: “Audiences can expect an extraordinary live performance filled with classic favourites, unforgettable moments, and the electric atmosphere that only a Lionel Richie concert can deliver”.
The performance in Malta follows a US-wide tour alongside the similarly iconic American band Earth, Wind & Fire across June and July. The Ta’ Qali concert will be followed by a UK date two days later, before the singer heads back to the US.
Richie, now 76 years old, rose to fame as lead vocalist and songwriter for American funk and soul group the Commodores, before launching a hugely successful solo career spanning soul, pop and R&B.
He is known for hits such as Can’t Slow Down and Say You, Say Me, and, alongside the late Michael Jackson, penned the iconic 1985 charity single We Are The World.
The singer and songwriter has won four Grammy Awards and an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
