Opposition health spokesman Michael Farrugia has called on the government to publish details of the reforms it intended to implement in the health sector in the coming days before the June 12 European Parliament elections.

The Nationalist government, he said, had promised the EU that besides pensions reform it would be reforming the health sector to cut its expenditure. Diabetics, he said, currently received all medicine free of charge. Would the system continue, he asked.

The government, Dr Farrugia said, had the duty to inform the people of its plans, which, he said, would destroy the welfare state, before the forthcoming elections.
