Litter bugs

On Monday mornings, after mass meeting nights, it has always been the custom to jealously compare the crowd photos published in local newspapers. Which side had the biggest crowd of followers? This almost mythical rivalry can be directed towards a civic cause.

I suggest your reporters wait out the crowd to head home and then take another photo from the same angle, this time of all the litter left behind. Let us see which party has the majority of garbage dumpers.

During the past few years we have become used to using the seat belt and park inside white lines, and, unfortunately, one can still tell from the rubbish exactly which snack most people enjoyed and also, which drink it was washed down with.

This is great stuff for food market analysis, but it does not make us one-bit European. It would not take much if during these meetings, both parties created some awareness as well.
