Little Sisters' appeal

I write on behalf of the Community of the Little Sisters of the Poor in Hamrun, who so diligently and enthusiastically care for the elderly of lesser means from all over the island. As you are all aware, the Little Sisters have been firmly established here for well over 100 years and recently embarked on a project to make the home not only more comfortable but also more acceptable to EU standards and appropriate for current day living.

To date the Mother House in France has contributed large sums for the Sisters in Malta to keep abreast with their payments. Sadly, at the moment, the Mother House is not in a position to send any more money and the Sisters in Malta are in dire straits. The bills for the upkeep of the home, for consumables and indeed payments to the staff never cease and of necessity I wish to make a widespread appeal for financial help.

The last time I made a general appeal like this was in November 2003, when the Sisters had an accident in their car and thanks to the generosity of the Maltese we could buy a new van within a couple of months. Now we urgently need donations again and as we have always maintained - every little helps! I take this opportunity to say that we are very grateful to all those who have left legacies in the name of the Little Sisters and suggest that this is another way of donating money to our cause.
