The government is offering people living in the northern region up to €15,000 to make their homes more energy efficient.
Under the scheme, the government will pay either 75 per cent or 90 per cent of the costs (depending on household income) to improve the Energy Performance Certificate score of a house or flat.
Couples earning more than €50,000 and individuals earning more than €35,000 will be able to recieve back 75 per cent of expenses while those earning less are entitled to 90 per cent.
The Building and Constuction Authority scheme - Renovate Your Home - also includes a €1,000 grant for those buying a Water Heater Pump.
Those interested can apply here. They have between July 23 and August 31 to do so. The scheme is available for homeowners, renters, and also voluntary organisations.
Only those who live in Attard, Balzan, Mellieħa, Mġarr, Mosta, Mtarfa, Naxxar, San Ġwann, and St Paul’s Bay can apply this year.
Insulation works, replacing apertures, draught control and shading installation, installing photovoltaic systems, energy-efficient lighting, installing second-class water systems and facade improvements all fall within the remit of the scheme.
The scheme was already available for those living in the port region in 2022, and will open for other regions in the future.
Announcing the scheme, Construction Reform minister Jonathan Attard said it aims to help people sustain and improve the investment they have made in their property.
"Through this scheme, we will be helping all those who are owners or tenants of residential property to make the necessary changes so that the property they live in becomes more energy efficient”, he said.
Ineligible works include any work on commercial or non-residential buildings, properties with enforcement cases or pending permits, decorative bathroom and kitchen upgrades not linked to energy efficiency and works previously funded by other schemes.
