Andrew Lloyd Webber's genius will follow the music of Carl Orff and Joseph Vella in the programme of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the Malta Trade Fairs Corporation.

Carmina Burana by Carl Orff and A Canticle Cantata by Mro Vella were presented at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, in Valletta. The concert was performed by a 75-strong National Orchestra, the Drama Troupe Choir and the Laudate Pueri Choir with a complement of 150 voices.

Tenor Joseph Aquilina, sopranos Miriam Cauchi and Sophie Bevan and baritone Jaki Jugec, together with the choir and the orchestra, under the baton of Mro Vella, gave an outstanding performance of Carl Orff's work. The programme of activities continues in September and November with a Lloyd Webber bonanza on both occasions.

The first will consists of Elgar's Cello Concerto and then, in November, the National Orchestra and the Laudate Pueri Choir will premier in Malta Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem.
