Domestic exports in October rose by Lm8.8 million, to Lm67 million, but over the first 10 months they were still down by Lm16.3 million, to Lm645 million, according to figures published yesterday by the National Statistics Office said.
Imports in October rose by Lm5.9 million, or 5.4 per cent, to Lm114.2 million.
The office said imports of industrial supplies were up by Lm1.1 million, to Lm57.7 million. At Lm18.2 million, imports of capital goods were at last year's level.
Imports of consumer goods increased marginally over October last year, to Lm30.4 million.
At Lm7.9 million, fuel imports were up by Lm3.9 million from Lm4 million last year.
The office said total exports in October were up by Lm14.2 million, to Lm81.6 million, and re-exports increased by Lm5.4 million, to Lm14.5 million.
In the 10 months to October, total imports were down by Lm11.3 million, or 1.1 per cent, to Lm1,015.8 million.
Imports of industrial supplies was down by Lm21.9 million, or four per cent, to Lm519.1 million.
At Lm168.3 million, imports of capital goods was down by Lm2.2 million.
At the same time, imports of consumer goods increased by Lm13.8 million, or 5.9 per cent, to Lm246.7 million.
At Lm81.7 million, fuel imports were down by Lm1 million over last year.
Total exports were up by Lm17.7 million, or 2.4 per cent, to Lm753.4 million.
Re-exports were up by Lm34 million, to Lm108.3 million.
In the 10-month period to October, the visible trade gap narrowed by Lm29 million, to Lm262.4 million.
