World rally champion Sebas-tien Loeb will drive a privately-entered Citroen for the Belgian Kronos Racing team next season.

Citroen, who have won the manufacturers' title for the past three seasons, are withdrawing from the championship for a year before returning in 2007 when Frenchman Loeb will rejoin the full works effort.

The carmaker said Spaniard Xavier Pons would be one of Loeb's team-mates at Kronos.

Citroen added that French teams Oreca and PH Sport will also be allowed to run Citroen Xsara world rally cars in various championships next year.
