Alexander Borg, MCIPS (Stam), MIM, MILT (UK), recently returned from Birmingham, UK, where he attended the annual exhibition and convention of the Institute of Logistics & Transport (UK) at the International Convention Centre.
This year about 80 organisations participated. The exhibition, which was well attended, was officially opened by Princess Anne.
The main speakers at the annual convention were Jan Szymankiewicz, CEO Compass Logistics Ltd, John Allan, CEO Exel plc, Professor Charles Hampden-Turner from the University of Huddersfield and Patrick Butler from Lane Group plc. The convention was chaired by Nicholas Withchell, royal and diplomatic correspondent for the BBC.
Two concepts were addressed: people in a changing world and technology. Workshops and case studies were also held.
Mr Borg represented the Logistics Foundation Centre of Malta, of which he is founder and director. The internationally accredited centre is a complete one-stop centre for logistics and supply - chain management information and education services and offers a whole portfolio of services in Malta and in the Mediterranean region.
After last year's positive results, the foundation this year decided to continue offering an attractive package consisting of a training-studying programme and a holiday during any period of studies taken in Malta.
It is the third time that the Logistics Foundation Centre of Malta, supported by Metco, has participated in this event.
