Surgeons have a waiting list of 259 hip replacement operations, Health Minister Louis Deguara said in reply to a parliamentary question yesterday.

He said Frederick Zammit Maempel had a waiting list of 38 operations, Carmel Sciberras, 15, Charles Grixti, 53, Ivan Esposito, 15, Ray Gatt, 60 and Anthony Bernard, 78.

The minister said that between them, the surgeons performed nine hip replacements per month.
