I refer to the letter "Air Malta from Hamburg" (December 4).

When Air Malta reviewed its summer results, it was clearly evident that certain routes registered heavy losses due to the current drop in outgoing traffic from Germany. These drops were the result of the overall economic situation in Germany.

Air Malta was therefore forced to adopt a strategic withdrawal from certain routes, including Hamburg.

The airline will not hesitate to reintroduce some or all of these routes when the situation in the German market improves.

Regarding airport taxes, Air Malta does not control these charges.
