Luxol, Hibs and Loyola join Depiro in semis

Hibs Medsea, the Peugeot League leaders, swept past Pembroke Athleta SW to reach the semi-finals of the Louis Borg Cup.

Also through to the last four of this competition were Luxol and Loyola Xuereb Installations who beat SN Suns JC Electrical Installations and Kerygma respectively. Depiro received a bye to the semi-finals of the Louis Borg Cup.

In a balanced game, Loyola produced the stronger finish to see off Kerygma's bold resistance.

After Kerygma had led 7-2, Loyola recovered to forge 20-12 ahead midway through the second quarter. Kerygma came fighting back to regain the initiative, 29-25, in the opening minutes of the third session.

Kerygma looked to be in the driving seat but not for long as Loyola rallied to begin the last ten minutes 32-29 ahead.

Six consecutive points secured victory for Loyola, 43-40.

After a shaky performance in the first two sessions, Hibs turned up the heat after the interval to dismiss Pembroke's challenge, 90-38.

Luxol met little resistance from SN Suns as the final 86-17 scoreline illustrates.
