Soprano Lydia Caruana and pianist Yvette-Maria Galea will perform a classical recital at San Anton Palace as part of The Three Palaces – Celebrating Music festival.

The duo will perform diverse works by Handel, Mozart, Haydn and Rossini, among which Mozart’s Ch’io mi scordi di te?, Rossini’s engaging La Regata Veneziana and his captivating Prélude Inoffensive.

Caruana made her debut in opera in 1995 with La Boheme and has, since then, exhibited an intriguing versatility both on the opera and concert stage.

She studied voice with the acclaimed Maltese soprano Antoinette Miggiani and performed in major European cities, including Vienna, Prague, Geneva, Bologna, Berlin, Hamburg, Edinburgh and Dublin, besides performing in 16 prominent cities in Germany with a concert tournée. She has also sung in Washington DC and Toronto.

Caruana has also partnered José Carreras and Andrea Bocelli to mega-audiences in Malta and sung with Joseph Calleja in Regensburg, Germany, for the Rathauskonzerte Series.

Galea has performed in England and in Germany. Her first performance in London was at the Barbican Centre in 1983, as part of the Melitensis Trio. In 1998, she appeared in a recital at St James, Piccadilly. In 1993, in Germany, she toured with the Amadeus Chamber Choir, of which she was a member as a chorister, as well as accompanist and soloist in her own capacity.

More recently, in 2012, Galea performed in Modena, Italy, as part of a flute and piano duo. In Malta, she has performed on numerous occasions, especially with the chamber group Musique de Chambre Pro Arte, and, later, with Trio Sycamore.

The recital is taking place on Friday at 7pm. Attendance is by invitation only; those wishing to request an invitation may call 2559 5563/4.
