The Malta Association for Baseball and Softball (MABS) has just concluded an agreement with prominent Italian coach Roberto Andolfi to train the national Softball team.

Andolfi, a scout for the Italian federation and also part of the coaching staff for the U-16 national team that won the European title in 2003 in Prague, will embark on a two-year assignment with MABS that will culminate with the participation in the Euro Championship 2007.

In his last position as manager of Serie A team Fabri Macerata, Andolfi also won the European Champions Cup which was played in Italy last July.

MABS is preparing for the Euro Championship 'B' Pool in two years' time.

Official preparations and training for the national team players started earlier this month. Andolfi has set a rigorous programme for the Maltese players who will be travelling abroad for various tournaments over the next 15 months in their build-up for the qualifiers.
