Mailbag tampered with

A mailbag which arrived on Thursday night on a flight from Gatwick contained numerous damaged items, Maltapost said.

The bag, carried on flight GT 6932, was part of a four-bag despatch. It contained some 350 letters, all posted in the UK to Malta addressees. The contents of the bag were in a wet condition, indicating that it may have been left in an uncovered area. Furthermore, some 60 letters showed clear indications of tampering.

The items are being delivered as addressed. Maltapost said that although this incident was outside its control, any inconvenience to the public was regretted. Maltapost is taking up the matter with the appropriate authorities in the United Kingdom.
