Hundreds of homes and businesses in Ħamrun and Santa Venera were without power yesterday after a contractor damaged a distribution sub-station.

The incident happened at 10.30am as the contractor was demolishing an old house. The work caused the partial collapse of the sub-station building after the roof was damaged. Power was restored in the afternoon.
