The Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association has welcomed the referendum result, saying there was "no room for interpretation of the result and the majority decision should be unequivocally accepted".
The MHRA urged the political parties to accept the result and actively work towards getting Malta back to normal.
"Malta needs direction, certainty and a renewed determination to work on the problems at hand within a calm and focused atmosphere.
"The national issue has been resolved and it is critically important for all Maltese to unite, away from politics, and work towards making Malta economically strong," the MHRA said.
One of the most positive aspects of the referendum campaign was the joint effort of the majority of the constituted bodies to work towards a common goal for the good of the nation.
The MHRA augured that this united effort would continue to be practised with many other issues in the future.
It also augured that the tourism industry would be given the attention and support it needed within Malta's new European context to enable the investors and the 40,000 families that depended on this industry to prosper in the years ahead.
The members of the MHRA were, in their vast majority, in favour of Malta joining the EU. The alternative of staying out would be harmful to the tourism industry, it said.
