Helping Malta`s case on the issue of property, there were two basic factors. The first is the size of our country which is what it is. The second is the density of our population which would make Malta by far the most densely populated country in the EU.
Malta would have a population density almost three times that of the Netherlands which is currently the most densely populated country in the EU.
Malta`s population density for its size is very large. It is 1,191 persons per square kilometre. This compares with 459 per square kilometre in the Netherlands which has the highest population density in the EU.
Cyprus, a country that we often compare ourselves with has a population density of just 83 persons per square kilometre.
