A delegation from the People's Republic of China yesterday had talks on a draft agreement on legal assistance in criminal matters with officials from the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs.

The talks consolidated the relationship between the two countries, which despite the difference in geographical size, continue to find common ground to enhance bilateral cooperation especially in the fight against organised crime, the government said.

The Chinese delegation was led by Liu Zhenmin, director general in the Department of Treaty and Law at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Attorney General Silvio Camilleri led the Maltese delegation.
