Daniella Borg, Ann Marie Baldacchino, Steven Fenech and Chris Sammut, members of the Malta Wheelchair DanceSport Association, are in the Netherlands to compete in the Dutch Open Dance Spectacular and World Cup Championships.
The event is the biggest in the world, with 16 countries taking part.
Wheelchair dancing is not just a sport, but more a way of life as it improves wheelchair skills, social skills and self confidence.
It integrates non-disabled and disabled persons in not only a competitive field but also socially as dancers attend local dances organised by dance schools.
Unfortunately the costs of travel limit the number of couples attending competitions abroad and the MWDA are always looking for opportunities to raise money by demonstrating wheelchair dancing.
The MWDA also hopes to host the second Malta Open Dance Spectacular on December 11/12, if a venue is found.
Over 40 people have already booked from Europe to attend and enjoy Malta's hospitality.
The association is looking for a sponsor to help obtain a portable dance floor which could be used for dancing, solving the problems of finding a suitable venue.
