One of Malta-based artist Miriam Sorrell's paintings is to be donated to a charity fund-raiser being held at auctioneers Christie's in London.
Ms Sorrell's dazzling mixed medium painting will be lined up alongside scores of other works by established and up-and-coming artists.
She is represented in the UK by Debra Veal who selected a piece of her work for Cancer Research UK, which hold an annual celebrity art event called "Art for life". The contemporary art event which raises money for cancer, last year made £75,000.
The event will be held on March 10 at Christie's in Mayfair and will be attended by numerous celebrities.
Competition to have works selected for the event is intense, with hundreds of artists applying.
A number of well-known artists have also exhibited at the event, including David Bowie and Lord Rogers who donated paintings last year. This year, contributing artists include Susan Wilson, Luke Elwes and Lynn Chadwick.
Guests pay £175 for a ticket, entitling them to a number which corresponds to a work of art, which they then retain at the end of the evening. As a result no one knows which work they would get.
The evening will include a private viewing of works by leading contemporary artists and an auction.
Ms Sorrell is currently exhibiting her works at St James Cavalier, in Valletta.
She has firmly established herself in the local art world since moving back to Malta from London four years ago. She has held three major exhibitions over the last two years and has become known for her flamboyant and passionate use of colour and diversity of theme.
