Malta completed their commitments in the UEFA Futsal Championship mini-tournament at the Hibs Pavilion with a 5-2 defeat to Georgia yesterday.
It was Malta's third loss in as many matches after defeats to Cyprus (7-1) and Kazakhstan (13-0) but the hosts' performance yesterday was their best of the competition.
In the day's opening match, Kazakhstan made it three wins from three matches when beating Cyprus 6-3. They topped the four-team group with a maximum nine points to secure a place in the main qualifying round of the championship.
Cyprus also qualified as one of the two best second-placed teams in the preliminary round which came to a close yesterday.
