Two new sister ships from TTT Lines of Naples are providing a service between Malta, Catania and Naples twice a week.
The service started yesterday with the arrival of the Trinacria. The sister ship is the Partenope and both vessels each have a gross tonnage of 25,000.
The ferry arrives in Malta at 3 p.m. and leaves at 5 p.m. and will carry accompanied cars, passengers and trailers.
"There is a great demand for this kind of service particularly for trailers which carry foodstuffs and fruit," said Neville Mifsud, chairman of the SMS Group which represents the shipping line in Malta.
The vessel will arrive in Catania at 10 p.m. and leave for Naples at midnight. The ferry is equipped with 78 four-bedded ensuite cabins.
