The Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce Around the World has recognised the German-Maltese Chamber of Commerce as a member, the chamber's president, Henry J. Borg, said.

The association is funding the services of a foreign consultant - the director general of the German-Italian Chamber of Commerce - to come to Malta and assist the GMCC.

Mr Borg, speaking during an activity to mark the first anniversary of GMCC, said that since its inception, the chamber has been promoting business possibilities for members by exploiting Malta's geographical situation for German counterparts not only to operate in Malta but also from Malta towards the North African and Middle East markets. He added that there were a number of events lined up for the coming months, including training seminars, exhibitions, fairs, and meetings with key decision makers.

Mr Borg also referred to the number of GMCC projects currently underway, which include the Business Incubation Project, the Academy for Technical Research and trade delegations to various fairs in Germany.

The GMCC is online on www.german-maltese.com.
