Malta Enterprise, which is replacing three other industry-related agencies, came into being yesterday, headed by chief executive officer Philip Micallef.

The agency said he will be supported by Patrick Cole, chief officer, business development; Ray Muscat, chief officer, enterprise support, who is also responsible for relationship management, and Adam Dedomenico, chief officer, corporate services.

Malta Enterprise is chaired by Joe Zammit Tabona.

All activities previously handled by the Malta Development Corporation, Malta External Trade Corporation and the Institute for the Promotion of Small Enterprise will be dealt with by the new agency.

Malta Enterprise will also play an umbrella role integrating government policy and enterprise strategy in Malta.

It will act as a single point of contact for all enterprise considering investment, trade or commercial links with Malta. It will be the primary organisation from where investors can best get their questions answered and their requests processed.

In addition, Malta Enterprise supports local enterprises and SMEs through a range of practical services and trade promotion programmes to enable them to remain competitive and internationalise their operations.

A number of programmes, previously managed by IPSE, are targeted at making small to medium sized enterprises increasingly competitive also by raising standards to EU levels.

Malta Enterprise can be reached at 2144 1888 or by e-mail at info@maltaenterprise.com.
