The Malta women's national team will be travelling to the Balkans this afternoon on a double assignment from the European Women's Championship Group Five.

Malta already started their qualifying phase commitments with an away match in Romania last month. On Wednesday they play in Sarajevo against Bosnia Herzegovina before crossing borders and into Vrbovec where they face Croatia. Both matches will kick-off at 4 p.m.

The match officials for the two matches are all female - from the Turkish and Russian FAs.

Malta made their debut on the international competitive scene on August 3 in Bucharest but despite fears of a morale-killing crushing defeat, Pierre Brincat's girls fared pretty well and lost 3-0 after a combative display that had the Rumanian hosts requiring second-half goals to claim the points.

The Malta contingent, headed by Malta FA vice-president John Farrugia, leaves the island today and returns home next Monday afternoon via Frankfurt.
