Malta completed their commitments in the European U-19 Championship qualifiers with a 1-1 draw against Georgia in their final match of the Group Five mini-tournament in Slovakia yesterday.
An MFA statement said that after a balanced first half, the Maltese held the upperhand for most of the second period and deservedly took the lead in the 51st minute through Hibernians striker Andrè Schembri.
Malta had various chances to doubled their advantage and were denied by the post on one occasion. However, hopes of finishing with a win after two losses were ended on 79 minutes when Georgia scored the equaliser.
Mark Miller's team had lost their previous two encounters against Lithuania, 1-0, and against Slovakia 2-1.
Malta's goal against Slovakia was scored by Kenneth Spiteri.
