Highlights of events in the coming days

THEATRE

Skeċċ

The second edition of the national short play festival, taking place from June 4 to 6 at Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta, showcases original short plays, each lasting between 10 and 20 minutes, performed in Maltese or English.

The selected works explore contemporary themes and cultural diversity, and will be staged multiple times across three days in a range of venues within Spazju Kreattiv.

Għaxra

The third double bill of Teatru Malta’s series, celebrating the national theatre company’s 10th anniversary, is taking place from June 5 to 7 at the Domus Theatre, Żejtun.

The plays being staged are Djalogu bejn Qaħba u l-Klijent Tagħha and 5subien.com.

In the former play, Manila meets a client who believes that because he is paying, he has absolute control. What begins as an agreement between two people quickly turns into an intense confrontation that goes far beyond money and the body.

In 5subien.com, five boys between the ages of 10 and 11 meet in secret to play together. What begins as innocent play, however, gradually reveals a disturbing reality. Through jokes, teasing and brutal fantasies, the children repeat what they have seen, heard and inherited from the adults around them.

However, Costantino not only portrays the protagonist, but also 17 additional characters, bringing a total of 18 distinct personalities to life on stage through narration, movement and physical theatre.

Il Processo – The Trial, directed and adapted by Andre Battistini, will be staged in Italian with English and Maltese surtitles. It is certified 10+.
