The strengthening of contacts between Libya's General Peoples' Congress and the Socialist Group in the European Parliament was discussed between the Libyan authorities and a Malta Labour Party delegation over the past days.

The Labour delegation, led by Leo Brincat, main spokesman on foreign affairs, met Suleiman Al-Shahumi, secretary for foreign affairs of Libya. Difficulties encountered by Maltese businessmen and workers to obtain a visa for Libya, the prospect of further investment in Malta and in Libya as well as the possibilities for the creation of productive work for Maltese workers and increased economic activity in Libya were among other topics discussed during the visit, a statement by the Labour Party said.
