The Malta Enterprise Libya office has organised the first of a series of eight mini trade missions to Libya this year, aimed at the construction and building services sector.
Twenty delegates representing 15 companies held around 150 one-to-one meetings at the offices of Malta Enterprise situated in Al Fateh Towers in the centre of Tripoli.
Apart from this direct "matchmaking" exercise, the Libya office organised another four high-level group meetings, Malta Enterprise said.
One of them was a visit to the Libyan Football Federation, where the participants had discussions with Najeeb Halab, the head of the Investment Department, and other officials. The federation is investing in various public buildings.
The Malta Enterprise Libya office has embarked on an intensive promotional campaign, which includes adverts in the Libyan press, TV, streamers and an extensive telemarketing campaign by fax and telephone. The publicity is aimed at increasing the awareness of the advantages of doing business with Malta and Maltese businessmen.
A forthcoming trade mission to Libya will focus on the printing, media and advertising sectors and will be held from March 20 to 23.
