The recently set up Malta Remote Gaming Council (MRGC), which brings together all iGaming operators currently holding a Maltese remote gaming licence, as well as service providers involved in the industry, has elected its management board.

In accordance with its statute the MRGC board consists of seven members, five of whom are representatives of iGaming licence holders and two represent service providers to the remote gaming industry in Malta.

The newly elected board members are (licensees): George Debrincat (Unibet), Daniela Grioli (Primebet), Gianni Corradini (WorldMatch), Alan Attard (LiveBetting) and Kevin Mikkelson (PokerChamps); and (services providers) Dr Olga Finkel (GFT Advocates) and Ian Curtis (Bell Med Ltd).

The management board held its first meeting late last month. The agenda included board appointments, briefing on the EU Market Services Directive and Malta's position, as well as on the proposed amendments to the Remote Gaming Regulations (LN176/2004), the formation of workgroups and respective responsibilities, and the formulation of the most efficient and rapid way forward to enable the MRGC to gear up for action.

Mr Debrincat was unanimously elected board chairman; Ms Grioli, deputy chairman; Dr Finkel, secretary; and Mr Mikkelson, treasurer.

The board has called a general meeting of the MRGC on July 27 to present the board to the members, give final approval to the MRGC statute, formalise the working groups, and to finalise a plan of action in respect of the most pressing points on the MRGC's agenda.
