Malta has made a request for assistance from the European Fund for Refugees, Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg told Jason Azzopardi (PN) in reply to a parliamentary question yesterday.

He said that no funds had so far been allocated within the EU to ease the cost of detention of illegal immigrants, although talks on this point were being held.
