The Malta Stock Exchange (MSE) has been chosen to host one of two prestigious conferences held annually by the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE).

The WFE is the global industry group for exchanges and clearing houses (CCPs) around the world. It represents over 250 market-infrastructures ranging from those that operate in the largest financial centres to those that run frontier markets. WFE exchanges are home to nearly 45,000 listed companies, and the market capitalisation of these entities is over $86.2 trillion; around $81.8 trillion in trading annually passes through the infrastructures WFE members safeguard.

For the first time in the WFE’s 57-year history, Malta has been selected to host a WFE annual conference. In March 2020, the MSE will host the three-day IOMA: WFE 37th Annual Clearing and Derivatives Conference.

“We worked hard to attract this prestigious international conference to Malta,” the chairman of the Malta Stock Exchange, Joseph Portelli, said. “We are thrilled and honoured the WFE board has selected the MSE to host this event. With Malta fast becoming the world’s premiere digital asset exchange centre, we believe Malta could likewise become an active clearing and derivative trading centre.”

The 36th IOMA: WFE’s Clearing & Derivatives Conference was held recently in Mumbai, India and was hosted by the National Stock Exchange of India.
