Malta to host Euroguidance meeting

Malta is to host the next meeting of the Euroguidance Network, to be held next month.

Euroguidance is a network of information resource centres aiming to facilitate mobility throughout Europe. Euroguidance centres operate in all EU member states, candidate and EEA countries. They support the guidance community and promote good practice and developments in European guidance.

The Euroguidance centre in Malta forms part of the Leonardo da Vinci National Agency within the European Union Programmes Unit at the Ministry of Education. It collects, processes and disseminates information on studying and training opportunities across participating countries. Euroguidance Malta offers individualised assistance and on-line services for local and foreign persons who are interested in transnational mobility.

The members of the Euroguidance Network meet twice a year to discuss the various issues linked with career guidance and other issues which have a direct concern for the network and its functions. One of the meetings, which is usually linked to administrative aspects, is held in Brussels while the second meeting is usually held in one of the participating countries.

The last country which hosted the network meeting was Switzerland, in September 2003 in Berne. During that meeting Euroguidance Malta offered to host the next network meeting and the offer was immediately taken up by all the other centres.

The Malta meeting will be held between September 5 and 7. The programme will consist of two full working days of meetings and workshops for the participants from 31 countries. It will also include various cultural and social activities which will give the participants the opportunity to get to know Malta, its culture and history.
