Through the help of the Malta International Training Centre (MITC), Ghana now has an insurance college. In fact, the inauguration of the Ghana Insurance College was marked by a recent graduation ceremony in Accra, also attended by MITC's senior technical executive, Terry Callus. The objective of the Ghana Insurance College is for it to act as a hub for the development of insurance professionals in the West African region.

This falls within the ambit of MITC's role as an autonomous, non-profit making organisation dedicated to the training of human resource in insurance, risk management and financial services.

The successful completion of MITC's flagship courses, the applied insurance studies diploma and advanced applied insurance studies diploma allows students to claim credits towards the achievement of the highest level of qualification by an examination offered by the Chartered Insurance Institute, a qualification which is internationally recognised. MITC attracts not only local participants but also participants from approximately 60 countries hailing mostly from Eastern Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and the Middle East.

For this reason, and to further cement the support and collaboration between the two colleges, a donation of £750 (payable to the Chartered Insurance Institute of London) was presented by Mr Callus on behalf of MITC to Mr Justice Asante, Director of the Ghana College.
