Malta travel documentary premieres in New York ahead of US, worldwide broadcast

Hidden Malta produced, narrated by CBS travel editor Peter Greenberg

The Malta Tourism Authority on Thursday evening hosted the US premiere of a television travel documentary in New York.

The screening comes at the end of a “particularly significant week” for Malta-US relations after Delta Airlines announced it will start operating direct flights between New York's John F Kennedy airport and Malta from June next year.

The documentary, Hidden Malta, is a one-hour long prime-time special produced, hosted, and narrated by CBS News travel editor and multiple Emmy Award-winning journalist Peter Greenberg.

It will air this autumn on the American channel PBS-TV across the US and subsequently stream worldwide on Amazon Prime, Apple TV+, and YouTube.

“Everything is coming together,” Tourism Minister Ian Borg told the guests gathered for the exclusive viewing.

“This moment opens the door to a new era where Malta becomes not only easier to reach, but impossible to forget. Hidden Malta is more than a film, it is an invitation.”

Greenberg described the premiere as the culmination of a decade-long journey to bring Malta’s story to an international audience. He explained how much effort went into uncovering the country’s less familiar side, showcasing hidden gems that are not found in guidebooks or brochures.
