Malta has put off a decision on whether to recognise Kosovo’s declaration of independence.

The Foreign Ministry this evening released a statement by Foreign Minister Michael Frendo which said that Malta is satisfied that EU General Affairs and External Relations Council has reached a unified position on the EU’s role for stability in Kosovo and the European perspective for the region.

“As to the recognition of independence, which is a separate issue left to the member states individually, Malta will make a decision at the opportune moment,” Dr Frendo said.
