Malta's history

Reading Brian N. Tarpey's letter (February 25), I wish to send an open invitation.

I challenge only the last paragraph with him. I question how could a free man suddenly and legally become the prisoner? I refer Mr Tarpey to my letter of December 12, 2002, and the response by Julian Micallef of December 23 of the same year, unless his copy has lined up the bottom of his bird's cage.

I challenge Mr Tarpey, who wishes to meddle in our history with such enthusiasm, to present to us a certified copy of the document he claims to have made an innocent and willing helping man (Malta) a prisoner (colonial).

Mr Tarpey might ask me for the same proof but then I have given him leads to ask the Public Record Office for the documents I quoted. That is my proof. Mr Tarpey, you and men of your mind should leave our history alone. We know what we are talking about because we were the ones who suffered under the British.
