Thirteen-year-old Quint Van Beek will be representing Malta against hundreds of the world's best junior players in the prestigious US Kids Golf European Championship being held over four historic East Lothian links courses in Scotland between June 1 and 3.

Organised by the US Kids Golf Foundation, which provides opportunities for children across the world to learn and play golf, the event has emerged as Europe's premier junior competition to showcase the next generation of golfing stars.

Kids as young as six and - for the first time - up to the age of 18 will be challenging for the various European age group titles at the event.

The top finishers in each category will then compete in the Van Horn Cup - a showpiece event, modelled on the Ryder Cup, where the best European players are pitted against the top non-Europe golfers.

The top five finishers in each age and gender group also automatically receive an invitation to the US Kids Golf World Championships at Pinehurst Golf Club, North Carolina, in August.

The 13 years age group will comprise 42 other players hailing from different countries across Europe as well as South Africa, Thailand and the United States.

Van Beek is a junior member of the Royal Malta Golf Club and during his first competitive golfing season has won the McVities Trophy, the Hackers Trophy and came second on count-back in the Malta vs The Rest supplementary competition.
