Clip of Kevin Magri attracts one famous message of support amid plethora of ridiculing comments
A video of a Maltese DJ has gone viral, attracting both mockery and words of encouragement from world famous DJ Martin Garrix.
The short clip, shared on Instagram by user yan_abela_28, shows Kevin Magri, known as DJ Magri, playing the 2013 electronic hit Animals by the Dutch DJ at a private party.
At the time of writing, the video had more than 19,000 likes and hundreds of comments. While the video has attracted several mocking comments, including “Do you book cancellations?” and “Please send me your unavailability”, Magri also received a message of support from Garrix himself.
“Sending love!!!!!”, the DJ commented. Stmpd Rcrds, Garrix’s record label, wrote, “he was vibing with his whole heart and that’s all that matters, king.”
Speaking to Times of Malta, Magri said he was surprised that the video had gone viral, and the fact Garrix had commented on it.
“It’s a positive thing. I’m a happy person so I’m glad to spread good vibes,” said Magri, who works as a part-time DJ and performs at private events.
Asked for his reaction to the comments, Magri thanked those who had left kind words, and said it was normal in life to find people who offered both praise and ridicule.
Garrix is no stranger to his hit song finding its way into memes. Animals also features in a viral clip known as ‘OK Let’s Go!’, which first surfaced in 2014 and features two amusement park enthusiasts from the Netherlands.
